Veyder-Malberg’s Weitenberg Grüner Veltliner comes from a terraced vineyard northwest of Weissenkirchen in the Wachau. Old vines grow on gneiss soils and produce small bunches, with naturally limited yields. The site’s layout prevents the use of tractors and requires entirely manual cultivation. Harvesting is also carried out by hand. Spontaneous fermentation and maturation in wooden barrels accompany a dry wine connected with the preservation of old terraces. The cuvée represents this landscape through a single grape variety and work intended to maintain the area’s historic vineyard parcels and their distinctive setting.
