Description

Almaviva takes shape in Puente Alto, in the upper Maipo Valley at the foot of Chile’s Andes. The vineyards lie on the river’s northern bank, around 650 metres above sea level, on poor, stony alluvial soils. Mountain breezes and pronounced differences between daytime and night-time temperatures encourage slow, even ripening. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the Bordeaux-variety blend, complemented by other grapes grown on the estate. The project is defined by this meeting of soil composition, mountain-influenced climate and the varieties planted in its vineyards.
