Description

Chêne Marchand is Vincent Pinard's interpretation of a specific Sauvignon Blanc lieu-dit in Bué. The vines occupy a plateau marked by caillottes, stony limestone soils of Oxfordian origin. The family works its parcels with close attention to the ground and harvests the grapes by hand. Slow pressing of whole bunches precedes spontaneous fermentation, followed by maturation in previously used wood. The cuvée's identity rests on the relationship between the grape variety and this limestone landscape. Careful handling in the cellar allows the vineyard's particular origin to remain central to the finished wine.
