F.X. Pichler’s Frauenweingarten Grüner Veltliner comes from the plain between Oberloiben and Unterloiben in the Wachau. Its name recalls land once held by the Poor Clares of Dürnstein and subsequently planted with vines. Loess loam, Danube gravel and brown earth form a deep soil linked to the area’s river history. The vineyard lies between the vineyard slopes to the north and the river to the south. The wine presents delicate fruit and spicy suggestions, with a measured yet structured texture, retaining Grüner Veltliner’s connection to the valley-floor landscape.
