F.X. Pichler’s Klostersatz Grüner Veltliner originates in the Loiben basin, along the Danube’s curve between Dürnstein and Oberloiben. The vineyard has deep, river-derived soils: fine sands dominate the surface, while rounded gravel transported from the Alps lies beneath. These deposits record different phases of the river’s flow. The name recalls the historical role of monasteries in cultivating the area. Grüner Veltliner interprets this setting through fruit, spicy nuances and a gentle mineral element, keeping the origin in one specific Wachau vineyard at the centre of its character.
