F.X. Pichler’s Loibenberg Riesling comes from one of Loiben’s extensive terraced slopes in the Wachau. The site combines sunny exposures, dry-stone walls and sandy, stony soils dominated by Gföhl gneiss with some loess. The ground warms quickly and drains freely, while heat retained by the terraces prolongs the sun’s influence. The Riesling has a dense texture and full body, with peach, apricot and tropical suggestions. A mineral element accompanies the fruit and persistence in a wine able to continue developing in bottle as its different components evolve.
