Nigl’s 2024 Pellingen Privat Grüner Veltliner comes from a terraced vineyard in Senftenberg, classified as an Erste Lage by the Österreichische Traditionsweingüter association. The slopes face south to southwest and rise between 250 and 315 metres on mica schist. Maturation takes place in both stainless steel and large wooden casks. The wine is dry, presenting mineral and spicy character followed by a more restrained fruit component. Its full, dense texture leads to a persistent finish with exotic suggestions, interpreting Grüner Veltliner through the relationship between structure and place of origin.
